Second time having my hair cut by the wonderful Emily and I’ll absolutely be back. She is kind, knowledgeable, easy to chat to and laugh with. She really listens to what you’re after and gives great advice tailored to your hair and lifestyle. My hair feels so much more manageable and looks in great condition now, which is a triumph!

Annabel took such care to really listen to me and understand my hair. She explained a few things about why my curls behave the way they do, which I found fascinating and so helpful. She also talked me through what she felt would be most flattering for me, fully taking my curly hair and it’s texture into account, I felt completely heard and understood. I also have to mention how incredibly comfortable the chair and footstool were solid, supportive, and wonderfully relaxing. From the moment I sat down at Popham’s, I felt at ease. The entire haircut experience was deeply calming. Annabel has a gentle, reassuring presence that I felt completely relaxed throughout. I loved how thoughtfully she approached every section of my hair, each curl was cut with intention, care, and real attention to detail. Her thoroughness was beautiful to watch. I must admit, I was curious about how it would all come together. When Annabel turned me around to see the finished result, I actually gasped. My hair had a beautiful shape something I genuinely didn’t realise was possible with my curly hair. I mentioned that years ago I loved my hair being wider at the cheekbones. That was when I was much younger, and with menopause my hair has become a little finer and thinner. Somehow, Annabel has recreated that width at the cheekbones again, giving my face a whole new, beautifully flattering shape. As is always the case with my curls, they don’t fully settle into their true shape until the first wash. When I got home, I washed my hair and sent Annabel some photos and it honestly looked even better. My curls seriously look amazing. There are no odd bulky parts or awkward bits, and I can run my hands through my hair and the curls still fall beautifully back into place. The overall shape is soft, balanced, and effortless, it actually reminds me of the leading actress in Chocolat. I have never had my curly hair look this well-shaped, this neat, or this alive before, at any length. Popham’s has a calm, thoughtful atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel unrushed and so calming. And with Annabel’s skill and care, this was genuinely one of the most calming hair experiences I’ve ever had. What a truly wonderful experience. I am absolutely so thrilled, my hair looks absolutely amazing, this is so rare for curly hair, so many hair dressers do t get curly hair. Annabel is a real find. Thank you Annabel and thank you Popham’s.

Hello! I had my hair done by Rubylea and she honestly made the whole thing feel easy and fun. I told her what I had in mind and she picked it up straight away. We chatted a bit and before I knew it she was finishing up. I walked out feeling fresh and lighter. She did such a great job. I was waiting with that review for a couple of weeks to see how my hair will react - as it always looks good straight away. I have no damaged hair, the colour is perfect, the cut is easy to style.
